Gary Overholt
Very sad to learn of this. The smiling face of Shoes that is posted with his online obituary is exactly how I remember him, especially when he was laying down the winning poker hand. Gary and I played (on rival teams) in the Brookfield National Little League at Kiwanis Park. Since then, the baseball field has been named in honor of his Dad, who donated the time of his life to take care of the field. The Overholt family name will always be remembered and known in Brookfield.
tribute by Mike PelusoRIP, Shoes ... I remember the good times we had together playing basketball at R-B ... especially when we knocked off LT and Quincy when we were sophmores ... Coach Ware said we were celebrating like we had won the State championship after that overtime win over Quincy! And it felt that way! You were a great teammate and friend. We guards had to stick together you know. I would have loved to reminisce with you at our 50th ... but that's not to be. Thanks for the memories. Your friend, Berg
tribute by Bill HedbergI agree with Chuck, Gary ( shoes ) was a great athelete and a good person. I remember all the good times and laughs we all had playing baseball in school and those summer teams. RIP
tribute by Tom MikulkaGary and I played basketball and baseball together at RB. "Shoes" was a hard-working and talented athlete as well as a good-natured guy. He could stick a jumper as well as smack a fast ball a country mile. I recall our teams having some successes, especially our sophomore and summer league baseball teams, and we were always better with Gary. Miss you Shoes. RIP
