Gary Stejskal

Gary Stejskal

Gary Stejskal lived two houses away from me. He was a great friend as we grew up exploring our neighborhood on Forest Avenue along Salt Creek.  With our small baseball, football, and basketball games in the streets, lawns, & back alley, we became good buddies and created wonderful memories. Summers meant regular trips on our bikes to nearby Kiwanis Park and, often, exploring the mysterious wooded areas along the creek.  Winters were snowmen, snow forts, snowball fights and occasional hockey on the creek. In school, I was a year ahead of him and when I left Gross School for RB, our times together diminished and our interests diverged.  After leaving RBHS, I lost contact with Gary.  I hope his years after RBHS were filled with success & joy. I remember Gary from grade school at Gross; I believe we were in the same class from 3rd grade on.  I remember him as tall, blonde, and high-spirited, even as a young boy in the middle grades.   My most vivid recollection of Gary was in the 8th grade, in English.  I can't for the life of me remember the name of the teacher, and I don't even remember what Gary did or said, but I was sitting next to him right then, and I remember laughing uncontrollably at SOMETHING.  He probably got in trouble for whatever it was he said or did. I didn't have any connection with Gary in high school or afterwards.  It looks as though he moved to Arizona and died there in 1997. RIP, Gary.  I hope you had some good years in the sun.
